Hans-Jürgen von Bose was born in Munich (Germany) in 1953. Von Bose is one of the leading figures of the rising middle-generation of German composers. His instrumental pieces are frequently based on literary or poetic sources. Also he's the composer of several operas: "The sorrows of young Werther" (Goethe), "63: Dream Palace" (James Purdy), "Slaughterhouse-Five" (Kurt Vonnegut). Since 1992 von Bose is professor for composition at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Munic, Germany.
