Strauch

Born 1971 in Munich.
After having had lessons (piano, cello) he started to compose.

  • 1985-1992: private composition lessons with Konrad Jaeger and Prof. Kay Westermann.
  • 1992-1998: Student of Prof. Hans-Jürgen von Bose (composition) and Prof. Ulrich Nicolai (conducting) at the "Musikhochschule Munich".

  • 1992-1994: Attendance of various courses for composition
  • 1995: scholarship holder of the city of Munich
  • 1996: World premiere of the opera "Narrow Rooms" (Prinzregententheater Munich); world premiere of "Academic Songs" by the Munich Chamber Orchestra
  • 1998-2001: Studies with Prof. Hans Zender and Prof. Isabel Mundry at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule
  • 1998: Scholarship of the State of Bavaria
  • 2000: Production of "Schöne Zeiten" (combination of: "Der Heideknabe" by Hebbel and "Phaedra" by Racine at "Neues Theater München"
  • 2001: World premiere of "Beau Rivage" (chamber opera) at the A*DEvantgare Festival; live broadcast of "Harre Singe" at German radio.
  • 2001-2002: Scholarship holder of "Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia" in Bamberg.
  • 2003: Promotion award of the city of Munich.
  • Alexander Strauc got numerous composition comissions and wrote works for: Munich Chamber orchestra, Prinzregententheater, Bavarian State Opera, Young German Philharmony, Fredener Musiktage As a conductor he works with several choirs.

    Strauch's works have been both broadcastes and published on cd „Amphion" („Der Hügel" on amph 20978) and the CD-series of the "Musikhochschule München" („Der Nachhauseweg" on CD #29).
