Christoph Maria Wagner was born 1966 in Pullendorf (Germany).
1987-92 he studied conducting at Cologne university.
1992-1995 he studied composition also in Cologne.
Since 1994 he also composes film music, since 1995 he is teaching at Cologne University.
Founder of "SCHISMA" - a cologne composer's group
1997 he took part in the Gergiev-Festival in Rotterdam (NL). 1997/98 performance of his opera "Der Opferstock".
1999 first prize from the first International competition for composition and interpretation of the European Flute Festival for his composition "Zoom"
Since 2000 chairman of the Cologne concert series "Klang Köln".
Wagner worked and works with numerous ensembles for contemporary music. He worked with Ingo Metzmacher, the "Young German Philharmony" and Helmut Lachenmann; he also conducted as guest at Cologne Opera and at the EXPO 2000 in Hannover.
